This June, the San Diego Chapter will be “Slip Slidin’ Away!” Robert J. Reese, PLS, will make a presentation about establishing boundary lines in an area subject to subsidence – not disastrous, immediate earthquake-type subsidence, but a slow shift of the earth.

The account involves LA County’s actions and causality, a city’s attempt to stop Mother Nature, and various surveyors’ attempts at retracement in a shifting environment.

Attendees will be offered an opportunity to comment on the methods and reasons of a survey that has been questioned by the LA County counsel, other surveyors, and some landowners.

Marv Sylakowski Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament

Join our surveying community for the annual Marv Sylakowski Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday, April 24, 2026 at The Vineyard at Escondido Golf Course in Escondido, California.

The California Land Surveyors Association San Diego Chapter is excited to host our annual golf tournament and bring our community together for a fun-filled day on the course. The golf tournament will include a round of golf, buffet lunch, drinks, and plenty of bragging rights!

Each golfer’s fees will contribute $10 to the 2026 recipient of the San Diego Chapter Education Fund.

Join the San Diego Chapter on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 6:00 pm, featuring a special presentation by Mr. Carl C. de Baca, PLS, regarding monument preservation. We will be discussing Palomar College & Southwestern College’s branch into the land surveying educational arena, our promotional contest, “Surveyor Bingo,” and have a quick word from our sponsor, CSDS. Box lunch dinner catered by Something Delicious Catering (Mrs. Kitty Brisendine) to be provided.

We’re meeting back at the Caltrans District 11 office located at 4050 Taylor St, San Diego, CA 92110 (Old Town San Diego). Our unofficial start of the event begins across the street at Casa Guadalajara at 5 pm! Come socialize before we learn!
